Who would’ve thought?

I love to be in the kitchen. Love it.

I’m not necessarily very good at what I’m doing but I do try and I learn. I’m very good at following directions, so give me a recipe and I can do it. I’m not one of those people who can fling open the cupboards and throw something fabulous together.

I was, however, inspired by all of the fun, festive Easter confectioneries that were all over town. For me Easter is about the food. The meal with my family, the treats that happen to be around every corner and in every basket. It is just another Sunday to me, not the rising of “my Lord and Saviour”. As the generations get older, the kids (that’s my group) have taken over many of the responsibilities that come with family gatherings. We’ve even updated the manner in which we figure things out: email! It’s great – with a few exceptions of those family members who 1. don’t read their email regularly 2. don’t respond to the newest email thread 3. those who don’t read the ENTIRE email.

My contribution to yesterday’s menu was rolls and cupcakes. I bought the rolls from our family’s favorite place (I’d better not try to get them something new) and I made the cupcakes.

I thought they turned out pretty great! Not only were they super cute, they were tasty. Even on day two the frosting is holding up and is still light and fluffy. πŸ™‚ Yay me!
